About Fujitsu Sports

We know how great it is to have sports in our society and in our lives. In addition to the pursuit of victory, sports has the power to solve social issues and create a better world by integrating with various elements such as well-being, diversity, and technology. For many years, we have been committed to the realization of a symbiotic society, aiming for a society in which everyone can live happily through support of global tournaments. Going forward, we will continue to challenge ourselves to share the excitement that we can experience through sports, connect sports culture to the next generation, and engage in diverse activities.

Fujitsu Sports Team

Fujitsu, which was established at the Kawasaki Plant in 1935, has always cherished the value of “People are the most important asset for the development of a company. One of the important issues for companies is the enhancement of the welfare system that supports the sense of work and life.” which is relevant to today’s well-being. In 1985, the 50-year anniversary of Fujitsu’s founding, the American Football Team and the Women’s Basketball Team were designated as Fujitsu’s Enhanced Sports Team, while the Athletics Track and Field Team was added in 1990.
Today, Fujitsu Sports teams strive to be the best in Japan and the best in the world in each sport, working every day and challenging themselves. At the same time as pursuing victory as a top team and top athlete, we are actively engaged in initiatives that contribute to health management and social and community contribution activities under the mission of raising the value of sports.

Track and Field Team

Established in 1990 with the slogan “fostering athletes that can compete globally,” the Fujitsu Track and Field Team has been a leader in Japanese track and field ever since, awarded the Best Team Prize for the Top Athlete Support Award at the JOC Sports Awards in 2008. The team includes top athletes in a wide range of events, from track and field events to marathons, “Ekiden”* and race walking.
These athletes actively participate in track and field clinics around Japan and contribute to the improvement of track and field levels and the promotion of sports in Japan.

* Ekiden is a road race originated in Japan, which is a long-distance relay race in which a long strip of cloth, sash, is connected instead of a baton.

American Football Team

In 1984, the Fujitsu Group gathered members with experience in American football to form a club. The following year, in 1985, under the slogan “Japan’s best in both work and football,” the team called itself “FRONTIERS” and officially started as a sport designated by Fujitsu, vowing to become a pioneer in the Japanese American football world. Since then, the team has progressed as a strong team and has grown into a team that represents the X League in both popularity and ability.
In the 2022 season, the team won two consecutive titles for the seventh time in Japan. The team is taking the initiative in community contribution activities as the “Kawasaki Sports Partner” of Kawasaki City, where they are based as a hometown, while continuing to challenge ourselves to give value to the Fujitsu Group as a winning team.

Women’s Basketball Team

The team that was founded in 1985 with the motto of “autonomy” of the players was named “Red Wave” in 1993 with the idea that “the red wave will become a threat to the strong teams.” Today, Red Wave has developed into a representative team that consistently ranks high in the Japanese women’s and W-League. The team will continue to play aggressive basketball with high probability shooting and high speed, which are the team’s characteristics, and will work together to achieve the pinnacle to inspire courage and emotion to those who support them.
In addition, as part of Fujitsu’s social contribution activities and to encourage sports in the local community while building up the foundation of Japan’s basketball world, the team has been recognized as a “Kawasaki sports partner” by Kawasaki city where the team is based, and it provides coaching in basketball workshops it conducts for elementary school students in Kawasaki city during PE classes.
