The Fujitsu Frontiers played the fourth game of the regular season of the X League against the Nojima Sagamihara Rise at Sagamihara Gion Stadium on Sunday, September 23, 2018. The Frontiers kicked off the game in front of the audience of 1,592.
They started the game with a bang. In the first play of the game, DB Adeyemi (No. 40) cut the opponent’s pass then on the second down the Rise QB ran but DL Fujitani (No. 90) tackled him immediately. On the third down when the Rise had still 7 yards to go, DB Takahashi (No. 13) caused the Rise QB to fumble, recovered the ball and got a touchdown. The Frontiers scored first spectacularly. The Rise scored on a FG in their second offense, then the Frontiers ended their first offense 3 and out. In the Rise next offense, they got a first down at 5 yards to the goal line, but DL Minami (No. 98) sacked the Rise QB and the Frontiers did not allow them to score.

The Frontiers started their offense at 26 yard in their own territory. RB Nixon (No. 16) carried the ball through the center of the field, dodging the Rise defense, running 74 yards for a touchdown. Their next offensive series started at 35 yards in their own territory. WR Nakamura (No. 81) caught a 32 yard pass, then TE Mizuno (No. 87) got a 23 yard touchdown pass. On the defensive side, DL Takahashi (No. 53) and OLB Cho (No. 44) sacked the QB on third downs, preventing them from scoring. After 3 minutes to go, both teams got an interception and a FG. The Frontiers ended the first half 24-9, leading by 15.

The game resumed with the Frontiers receiving, and they started the offense at 21 yard in their own territory. Steadily gaining yards, mainly by the passes to Nakamura, they had 1 yard to go on the fourth down at 22 yard in the opponents’ territory. The special team came in, as if to try a FG, but then they called a timeout instead. QB Birdsong (No. 3) and the offense came back in and they gambled for 1 yard, but Nixon’s run fell short. The Rise scored a touchdown right after that, however the Frontiers scored back a touchdown with three consecutive run plays by Nixon’s 4 yards, Birdsong’s 24 yards and then again Nixon’s 37 yards.

The last quarter started with the Frontiers offense, which ended 3 and out. The Rise had a good position of 43 yard in the Frontiers’ territory then they got 2 first downs, having only 16 yards to the goal line. But on the first down, Adeyemi cut a touchdown pass then the Rise only managed to run 1 yard on the second down. The third down pass was incomplete, then they tried a touchdown pass on the fourth down, which was again cut by the Frontiers, then Adeyemi caught the ball in the air, jumped out of the crowd in front of the goal line to run 99 yards. The Frontiers added another FG and won 41-22 against the Rise, who were previously undefeated, just like the Frontiers.
